When I arrived in England as a young immigrant on the shores of this
great country, I realised that time and alcohol had addled my brain,
and I was battling to recall some of memories of my yoof (I've noticed
my speling is taking a knock now too).
Hence I decided to write
a book called "Mein Anderken", which tightly translated means "My
Memories" in German, the relevance which I cannot explain.
My
grandiose plan was to document a few of my more memorable memories,
especially ones which I shared with my good mates, if only to provide
some conversation around the camp fire (you every seen a straight
fire?). Of course, like most of my ventures, I lost interest after the
fun bit (the idea) and left the book half written (well 1/50th).
The
other day I was reading a blog on this here web and it occured to me
how the shifting nature of transmittable medium has morphed in the
digital age - I can now publish my book online, and no one can stop me
- baaahhwhhhwhhaaawhhwww...
Anyway - I've cut a few bits of it
out and pasted them here - they're more for my benefit to bring back a
smile as I remincis (that is so hard to spell!) about the good old
glory days of the Rod. Those of you who were there might also allow
yourself a small smile (think "The Rodney Grimace") as you are deported
back in time.
They are unedited and unreviewed and a bit dodgy
really. The opinions expressed are my own only and I have left comments
in so that you can chip in where you feel neccessary. If it is popular
I will add some more and maybe even pick up the keyboard one day and
continue writing...
To view them, have a look under the "Arb" menu on the left!
