The dude who invented the first MillionDollarWebPage.com was  a genius. Like most of the flash-in-the-pan fads the genius lay not in the business model or the longevity of the idea, but in the novelty.

Combine a novel idea with percentages and the general unwashed masses and you have a formulae for making money.

In case you don't know what he invented, he was the founder of the concept of selling pixels for advertising space (1000 000 pixels at $1 a pop).

To cut a long story short - he is now an alcoholic and drug addict, and has caught some disease and regrets sqandering his million (in the plural lieth the catch) ... no wait, that's not it- I know nothing about what he is up to now- good luck to him. Anyway - another enterprising young man has picked up the virtual ball and is running with it so to speak. Now NORMALLY I would not condone this as it is flogging a dead horse and there's not much mileage to be done... however I read about it in the Metro in London, which means this lad is doing his marketing (believe it or not I attribute the success of 90% of business to this key factor). As I said a few years ago (probably whilst blatheringly drunk - "a good salesmen can sell a bad product, but a bad salesmen cannot sell a good product". Obvious you say? Well why didn't you get it down first then, twit... check dumbTV's quote section - it's mine...

Sorry - getting horribly off track here and got SO much more coding to do... so anyway - this guy has offered the chance for someone to win a million and is giving $100k to charity....noble? Bollocks! Do the maths son - that's $900k into his coffers, a bit of cash to the kidiwinks and $1m to some luck punter.

Anyway... I was impressed by the sheer ambitiousness of this plan to MILK people of their hard-earned cash and blatantly try to revive the original idea. As mentioned - I was impressed that I read about it in a paper (the Metro in London to be precise - that's called "Paper", and those funny animated animals you see next to you are called "people" - they in society too... you didn't know there was anything outside of that front door did you?)

To get serious for a very brief second... I re-invest about £200 a month of my profit from my various Internet ventures back into advertising. I use Google Ads (go on - search for "DotNetNuke Directory" in Google and see who's site comes up - and it's done to the number of clicks vs initial outlay (of course - quality of incoming traffic is important too - you don't want monkeys from the zoo browsing for Jimmy Choos shoes (if you into that kind of thing) - BUT sometimes any traffic is good traffic... remember when building a brand that you are after percieved popularity - which builds in a compound fashion... a means to an end if you know what I mean.

So think about it like this. I pay $100 in 10 days for Google Ads for PokerDIY.com. Over that time, 300 people visit the site - that's 30 a day for the numerically challenged amongst you. With my little advert on this site (yes, you guess right - well done - I plunked my hard earned dollars on 10*10 pixels of virtual space that doesn't even really exist but funnily enough is just one more straw on the back on the camel that is going to collapse and turn into gold dust) for $100. This site is going to be up for 4 YEARS. I will be surprised if I don't get 300 hits in that time... my point? CPC - cost per click - it's not a bad deal to get in first.... besides I prefer to know, try and understand these things before I pass judgment (am I opinated? I don't think I am).

Oh yeah - http://www.win1milliondollarhomepage.com

Check the "NO ENTRY X" type image in the very top left... that's my little bit of virtual estate for the next 4 years... go on... click on it... you know you want to - where does it go???

Re: I'm gonna be a millionaire... doo dah... doo dah...

Ha ha!!! - Good on you! - as they say, you can't win if you don't bet! - But don't you wish you had thought of the original pixel idea. I've read the milliondollarhomepage.com web site top to bottom, and they guys achievements are incredible. Just one unique (even silly idea) is all thats needed.

P.S. Where is the URL block for this comment to display my many brilliant unique web sites?
